For the first time, the delegation of Puerto Rico had the participation of three women's teams in the Master Basketball World Cup. These teams participated in the categories of 35+, 45+ and 50+. This tournament had teams from Argentina, Brazil, Great Britain, Italy, Colombia, among others.
Our 35+ team won the bronze medal in their first international tournament. In this category we had the outstanding participation of Carmen Vega, Carla Escalera, Yamilka Ramos and Zacha González.
Our 45+ team obtained the eighth position in its first international tournament. In this category we had the outstanding participation of Jannery Casillas, Joanny López, Adianez Arroyo, Jomara Berdiel and Sarah Rios.
Our 50+ team ranked fourth out of 20 countries. This category had the largest number of participants. In this category we had the outstanding participation of Maribel Santiago, Elizabeth Durán, Ana Carmona and Carmen Larregui, among others.
We appreciate the commitment of all the players who were part of the women's delegation of Puerto Rico. As well as the technical teams that were part of the preparation of these players, such as: Raymond López (leader of the 35+ & 45+ teams) and Rúben Rodriguez (leader of the 50+ team).
To all the sponsors who in one way or another made possible the participation of these teams, among them CMR, Felipe II & KAPU. Thank you very much for your commitment to women's master sport.
Our next commitment is the 2024 Pan American Master Games in Mexico.
